Government Healthcare biggest loser – Breast Cancer

Breast Cancer is the #1 health concern for women in the United States. And untold billions of dollars are spent to diagnose it, to treat it and to fight it. In the States, if you find a lump in your breast, it normally takes a week to see your Doctor, they’ll do a biopsy quickly afterwards and decide the best options for treatment.

How does that play out in Countries that have nationalized healthcare? What is the difference in the survial rate? According to Jim Hoft of the American Issues Project.

Currently the United States leads the world in treating breast cancer. Women with breast cancer have a 14 percent higher survival rate in the United States than in Europe. Breast cancer mortality is 52 percent higher in Germany than in the United States, and 88 percent higher in the United Kingdom. Breast cancer mortality is also 9 percent higher in Canada than in the US. Less than 25 percent of U.S. women die from breast cancer. In Britain, it's 46 percent; France, 35 percent; Germany, 31 percent; Canada, 28 percent; Australia, 28 percent, and New Zealand, 46 percent. T

The European Network of Cancer Registries reported:
Breast cancer is also the most common cancer in females in Europe. It is estimated that in the year 2000 there were 350,000 new breast cancer cases in Europe, while the number of deaths from breast cancer was estimated at 130,000. Breast cancer is responsible for 26.5 percent of all new cancer cases among women in Europe, and 17.5 percent of cancer deaths.

In Britain, where they enjoy socialized medicine, breast cancer rates have soared by more than 80 percent in the past 30 years under their system. A big reason for this is early diagnosis. Nine of 10 middle-aged American women (89 percent) have had a mammogram, compared to less than three-fourths of Canadians (72 percent). Women who develop breast cancer in Europe are four times more likely to be diagnosed when the tumor has spread and survival is less likely than are women in the US.

The BBC reported that US women were more likely to survive breast cancer than their European counterparts because they are diagnosed earlier, research finds. The five year survival rate in the US was 89 percent compared to 79 percent in Europe. One reason was that 41 percent of the US cases were diagnosed at an early stage, compared to just 29 percent in Europe and this greatly improved the survival rate.

The failures of nationalized health care have been widely reported. The failures of nationalized health care in treating breast cancer have also been widely reported. Thousands of women will be affected. In fact, it's hard to imagine anything worse for cancer patients than government-run health care. Nationalized health care and breast cancer are a deadly mix.

Anyway, I digress questions is - What do all these Women cancer organizations preach? Early detection, early treatment, right! Someone please explain to me why all these women that are so gung-ho on nationalized healthcare miss the obvious question about breast cancer and survival rate in a national healthcare system.

I swear I don’t get it? One of the ultimate goals for the Susan G. Komen foundation is to increase the survival rate for all women with breast cancer.

How does that work in a nationalized system????????

I'll be back!

Shoot, no wonder Arnie is heading out of dodge…let me tell you, the voters are going to kick his ass 12 ways to Sunday for all of the propositions he has backed for the CA special elections tomorrow. So he is tucking his tail between his legs and high tailing it (pun intended) to a political function with his new BFF, Obama.

According to Ballotpedia, there are 6 Propositions on the ballot are:

1A - $10 billion in "temporary" sales, use, income and vehicle taxes imposed as part of the 2009-2010 budget agreement would each be extended for one or two years, resulting in a further tax increase of some $16 billion.

So in essence, if I read this right, the legislature has failed again in their budgeting prowess; therefore their option is to shaft the taxpayer even more for their inadequacies.

The polls thus far show 38% for and 51% against as of May 10th

1B - would mandate supplemental payments of $9.3 billion to schools and community colleges beginning in the 2011-12 fiscal year, be given to the education fund now for budget shortfalls from the previous 2 years due to a bad economy.

So in essence, this is taking away from the educational future of the children. And the very best part, the California Teachers Association gave $2 million in support of this proposition. Gotta love the teachers always looking out for themselves!!!!

The polls thus far show 41% for and 50% against as of May 10th.

1C - would authorize borrowing against future lottery proceeds as a way to avoid state government spending cuts. The proposal would also repeal the current requirement that lottery revenue be used only for education. Instead, the legislature could appropriate lottery revenue for any purpose.

So in essence, this says that, we, the CA legislature, can’t solve any budget problems ourselves, so let’s, yet again, turn to the gamblers…the dumb bastards got money to blow!

The polls thus far show 32% for and 58% against as of May 4th.

1D - would authorize a fund-shift of $268 million in annual tobacco tax revenue currently earmarked for "First Five" early childhood development programs to the general fund of the state.

Here is the best part about this measure…under Proposition 1D, that revenue stream would cease for five years, essentially ending most First Five programs. Again this one is supported by the California Teachers Association…can you say “Up yours kid!”

The polls thus far show 37% for and 50% against as of May 10th.

1E - would authorize a fund-shift of approximately $230 million annually in income tax surcharge revenue currently earmarked for specified mental health programs known as the Mental Health Services Act.

So in essence, this just gives this money to the general fund of California, and worse yet, it doesn’t have to be reimbursed. Therefore, the mental ill get screwed and lose much needed care, but oh well, that is the best the CA legislature can do.

The polls thus far show 41% for and 48% against as of May 4th.

And the greatest ever Proposition in the history of Propositions!!!!!

1F - would prohibit the state commission that sets salary levels for the governor, other top state officials, and members of the California State Legislature from increasing those salaries if the state General Fund is expected to end the year with a deficit.

You see the California legislators are paid $116,208 for a full time job and $170 a day in per diem, when in session. And because they believe that they are so good at their job, they want their salary to increase despite any deficit…well the people of CA have had enough and this measure is the extent of that ire.

Now, usually I am a strong hater of the California Teacher’s Association, and on propositions 1A – 1E, I am…but they do support the passage of 1F, so my hate dissipates for a few seconds, but not for too long because they are truly an association that deserves scorn considering that they spent 8.7 million dollars on these measures, while 50% of their students are failing.

Oh! Please know that Governor Schwarzenegger has indicated that unless Prop 1A and the other measures pass, he will sell California landmarks such as San Quentin state prison, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the Cow Palace in Daly City, and the Sacramento and San Diego fairgrounds.

Well, why the hell not, they are just buildings! And the children, the poor and the mental ill live to see another day!

***Did I mention that Democrats make up about 75% of the CA legislature.

Marlon Brando as Uncle Sam in the ‘persona’ of The Godfather

The Godfather
Originally uploaded by ipwallpapers
Picture if you will – a dark, rather large, Italian kitchen; mouth-watering sauce is cooking on the stove; the pasta water is just starting to boil…Brando sits down at the slightly beat-up, wooden table. He has his shirt’s sleeves rolled up and tie inside the buttons of his shirt, an apron around his waist with sauce stains that look much like bloodstains. He sits quietly for a moment scratching his day old beard, while looking calmly but meaningfully upwards…his head, very slightly, shakes back and forth. This is Marlon Brando in the role of Uncle Sam, acted in the persona of The Godfather

Now, from his point of view; we see a terrified, very thin, gangly man being held-up by his elbows: his hat drooping in his left hand. On either side of the fear stricken man is a pair of thick, no necked, muscle-brained, Italian goons – who look straight ahead as zombies. The man doesn’t say a word; he just pleads with his eyes for mercy. We only realize in the following dialogue that he is a Bank President

Uncle Sam (calmly)
Mr. Gianelli, you disappoint me. You want to turn down the TARP money that your bank received from my generous hand. I offer to protect you and your family; your business; your property. All I ask in return is a controlling interest, that’s all. I think, Mr. Gianelli, you are not thinking straight…we can be very good for each other. All you have to do is do as I say.

Mr. Gianelle (shaking)
No, no Don Sam…I really didn’t need the money, please, you are much to generous with the TARP money from the public’s generous hand, but I swear on my mother’s grave…I never asked for the money. It was forced onto me!

Uncle Sam (agitated)
You now want to give it back? I, and only I, am the answer to your financial problems.

Mr. Gianelle nervously clutches at his hat, ruining its shape.

Mr. Gianelle (shakily)
Don, you are most kind…my family and myself are deeply touched by your gesture. I can get a handle on our situation and bring about the change that we deem necessary for our survival. The bank's board and I have worked out a plan
for resolving our financial problems in due time, without your kind offer.

Brando slams his hand down on the table. Thing One and Thing Two slightly flinch as they hold Mr. Gianelle, as he jumps in fright.

Uncle Sam (controlling)
I cannot allow that to happen. A deal is a deal…you are not allowed to return the money. You will accept it, and the deal is that I will have controlling interests. It is to my advantage that our plans remain exact. You will not tell anyone from now on that you were forced to take the money. You will accept all of my conditions or I will see to it that you and your family are diminished. Your future belongs to me. Each month you will see to it, that your bank supports my friends and political backers. Each month, your life is in my hands.

Mr. Gianelle (stammering)
But Don…I, I don’t want the…

At this moment Uncle Sam slightly nods his head…the goons on either side of Mr. Gianelle drag him from the room, twisting his arms tightly behind his back. Uncle Sam with a sigh stands up and goes back to the stove to watch over his sauce…slightly and smoothly stirring in circular and methodical motion.

Does this scenario sound familiar? There are certain banks in this country that were given TARP money (our money!!!) that now want to give that money back, and in some cases with interest. They have seen first hand how the Government deals with other companies (i.e. General Motors) that have taken public money, and these Banks don’t wish to be a part of it. Yet the Government won’t let them give the money back…is it to have controlling interest? Is it to keep a hand on who the money is given to for loans and deals?

And why would the Government want and need controlling interest? I ask you? The answer is in the sauce, my friends. Look to the sauce.

The U.S.A. is a kidnapped Country

Nancy Pelosi
Originally uploaded by bubbletea1

Is it just me or does anyone else think our Country has been kidnapped? Seriously, its been kidnapped by lunatics, from lunatistical districts! Yeah, I realize that lunatistical isn’t a word, but it is now! Crazy times call for desperate words.

Number one lunatic, has to be Nancy Pelosi from the 8th District of California. Where is the 8th District? It’s smack dab the center of looney town A.K.A. San Francisco. Which has declared itself a Sanctuary City…you could be two feet tall, purple and eat little children. No problem…your safe in San Francisco. It is one of the most reliably Democratic districts in the country, and it’s geographically the smallest congressional district in the Nation outside of NYC…and the 8th would spend $30 million to save the harvest mouse over the life of a human fetus, in a New York minute. San Fran isn’t voting Nancy out anytime soon, may be the only way to get Pelosi out of the Speaker seat, is if Barney Frank sits on her and I know he wouldn’t like that…she doesn’t come with the right equipment.

Number two lunatic, is afore mentioned Barney Frank from the 4th District of Massachusetts; this district covers much of the southern part of the State. And I have to give much credit to MA, cause they love a good scandalizing politician from all of the Kennedys right on down to Barney Frank…and will vote for them time and time, again. Frank’s main personal scandal, was that he had hired a male prostitute as a personal aide for a year and a half in 1987, but didn’t know that the prostitute was using his apartment as Call Boy HQ…wink, wink, nudge, nudge, nod, nod. Oh and the fact that nothing was ever wrong with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mack, not according to Frank…http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMnSp4qEXNM&NR=1

Number three lunatic, is Maxine “Don’t you touch my wig” Waters from the 35th District of California, this district covers much of South Los Angeles. One of my most favorite videos of Waters, was from 2008 when grilling the Oil Company execs and she talks about nationalizing them, or almost…just to sit and watch her stutter her way out of that mess, is priceless! Watch it here...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUaY3LhJ-IQ And don’t forget the nice little TARP money of $12 million that went to Waters ‘stock owned’ bank of One United. Waters, of course, pulls the race card anytime anyone says anything against her, be it true or not…and most of the time, it’s true.

Now, I could go on and on, with loonies in the House of Representatives and still not have to touch the Senate…but there isn’t enough time in the world for all that. What amazes me, is that these people from these district virtually run the Country and the agenda for the House. Now you and I know, that there are some good Democrats in the House…actually quite a few of the Blue Dog Democrats I could vote for, but these three, seriously, have got to go. Problem is I don’t live in their districts and the idiots that do, absolutely love them, blindly and will voter for them, stupidly.

But here’s what we can do, we can work hard to take back the House in 2010 for the GOP and in doing so, kick Pelosi to the back of the line. Wouldn’t that be sweet!!! Because honestly, I don’t trust the loony liberals that live in California or Massachusetts to have that much power…anywhere! Well, okay, I over exaggerate; they would fit in, quite well, in Venezuela…while they are going that way, maybe they can take Sean Penn with them.

Giving up the 3 C’s for Lent

Enjoy Capitalism
Originally uploaded by Jacob Bøtter
Every year, when Lent rolls around I give up two of my biggest vices – Coca cola and chocolate…and believe me, it’s a HUGE thing for me to do. But this year, I’ve decided to go one ‘C’ further and add Capitalism to my list. It’s just a horrible, nasty, vice of mine, and I must restrain myself from further damage.

Here is a good description of why Capitalism has me in its evil little clutch. You see, capitalism is an economic system in which wealth, and the means of producing wealth, are privately owned and controlled rather than commonly, publicly, or state-owned and controlled. Through capitalism, the land, labor, and capital are owned, operated, and traded by private individuals or corporations, and investments, distribution, income, production, pricing and supply of goods, commodities and services are determined by voluntary private decision in a market economy. A distinguishing feature of capitalism is that each person owns his or her own labor and therefore is allowed to sell the use of it to employers. In a "capitalist state", private rights and property relations are protected by the rule of law of a limited regulatory framework.

Now do you understand why I’m hooked!

Lately, it has come to my attention via the ‘party in charge’ that capitalism will be my downfall, and that only big government can save me. I must rely on Uncle Sam to help me overcome this addiction. They alone can help me wake up from this broken crack pipe of a dream.

So I thought that Lent would be the perfect time to go on my Capitalism fast. I will trust Uncle Sam to run my life better than I can. I will spit in the eye of consumerism, hence no Coca cola or chocolate. I will stop all matter of productivity. I will not make freedom of choice to give to my desired charities. I will always ask permission first, dare dear ‘Uncle’ becomes angry with me. I will allow my medical needs to be decided for me. I will set aside hopes and dreams for my life, as that is selfish. I will belong to the collective. I will be assimilated. I will.

53% of the collective decide to do give up on Capitalism in November, and they must know something, right? They mandated a change, right? They see a brighter future by relying on my ‘Uncle’, right? They don’t see the glass half empty or half full, they just don’t see the glass, right?

Thus far, I’m not sure that I like this particular Lent. In the words of the great orator, Rush Limbaugh, I will ‘hope’ to fail miserably. In fact, I know I will. Sorry dear ‘Uncle’.

I enjoy Capitalism; I know I’m an evil, selfish person, but so be it!
